Friends of the Shelter is a volunteer organization whose purpose it is to oppose cruelty in all forms, encourage humane handling and care of animals, advance spay/neuter programs, promote the animals shelters and strive for responsible adoptions and ownership. They have already helped 584 cats and 517 dogs access low cost spay/neuter services in 2012. That means that 1101 animals will not be adding to the overpopulation problem that can overwhelm our local shelters.
