Big news! A yearly tradition is kicking off on June 9th – mark your calendar! From Cincinnati Rollergirls.com:
A new annual sports tradition is coming to Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky! The Cincinnati Rollergirls and the Black-n-Bluegrass Rollergirls of Northern Kentucky are pleased to announce that the first-ever “Crosstown Knockdown” game between the two teams will take place on Saturday, June 9 at the Cincinnati Gardens.
In the same vein as the Crosstown Shootout, the annual men’s basketball game between the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University, the teams plan to play each other annually at alternating venues.
Both the Cincinnati Rollergirls and the Black-n-Bluegrass Rollergirls have been playing the full-contact sport of roller derby for fans at home and around the country since 2006, but the teams’ top skaters have never played each other publicly. That will change with the first Crosstown Knockdown on June 9, when the Cincinnati Rollergirls A team, the Black Sheep, will battle the Black-n-Bluegrass Rollergirls’ A team, the Blackouts.
